Weekly TD-SCDMA Update May 19-25
May 23, 2008
Although facing delay in inviting second-phase bids for TD-SCDMA equipment, China Mobile has recently demanded all equipment suppliers to enhance the company's TD-SCDMA trial network in eight major Chinese cities with TD-HSDPA (Time Division-High Speed Downlink Packet Access) functionality by the end of May 2008, Sina.com reported. With the completion of said network upgrade project, users can access 3G services including mobile TV and videoconferencing with improved transmission efficiency. Theoretically, TD-HSDPA technology can achieve a downlink speed of 2.8Mbps, eight times faster than standard TD-SCDMA transmissions, according to the same report.
